Tractors DO have a tight turning radius

July 25th, 2010 by Emily

We had so much fun last weekend out in Elizabeth for a BBQ.  We enjoyed delicious food, great company, and it was very relaxing.  Steve (Mike’s uncle) was brave enough to let the kids drive a tractor.  I’m happy to report that nothing was damaged and nobody was hurt considering how reckless my children drove.  Ryan’s favorite direction was in tight circles (very tight circles), so we all learned that it is possible to do figure 8’s with a tractor!

Week in Florida

July 19th, 2010 by Emily

We left for Florida the day after we got back from Beaver Creek.  Mike had to work, so it was just the kids and me.  And even though we only spent 4 days there (including each travel day), the kids still logged in about 10+ hours of swimming!  Whew!  Here are the kids anxiously waiting to board the plane.

Weekend in the mountains

July 17th, 2010 by Emily

I’ll start off with our first trip to Beaver Creek.  This was our Christmas present to my Dad and Judy, so it was Christmas in July!

We kicked off the weekend in Dillon/Silverthorne with a beautiful hike on the Lily Pad Lake Trail.  This hike should have been called Mosquito Trail.  Mike was the only one to get bit and the little pest was smashed quickly, so it wasn’t so bad considering the size of them.  Even with the bugs, the end was well worth it!

We also did a cave tour in Glenwood Springs, enjoyed the Alpine Slide, and relaxed at the pool.  Oh, and celebrated Mike’s birthday…how could I forget!

The 4th at the cabin

July 5th, 2010 by Emily

I have SO many childhood memories of playing up at the cabin.  It always tugs at my heart to see Katie and Ryan enjoying the exact same things.

Here is the incredibly durable tire swing:

Cabin 1

Cabin 2

Okay, so we didn’t play lacrosse when we were little, but replace this fun with another fun, whiffle ball, and you’ve got the same joy.

Cabin 3

Cabin 4

I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved/love these rocks!  We played on them for hours!  Ryan couldn’t get enough of them either!

Cabin 5

Cabin 6

Cabin 7

Cabin 8

Cabin 9

Cabin 10

Love, love, love the lighting inside the cabin.  That wolf (or coyote) hanging on the wall always used to scare the crap out of me.  Kinda still does.

Cabin 11

Cabin 12

And the oh-so-amazing climbing tree.  In the top 5 most memorable items at the cabin (and that list is long).  It has perfect stepping branches that circles all the way up the trunk of the tree until you are well above the height of the cabin.

Happy Independence Day, Everyone!

Wii boys!

Playing Mario Kart:

Linus and Ryan Wii

And Little L man, who was going the wrong way in the video game, literally turned around when we told him to.  Cute!

House

Our view for now.  Most of it may disappear as they build the neighborhood houses to the right, but the green area to the left is going to be open space.
